India vs Australia 2nd ODI Result

After thrashing Australia in the 1st ODI match, India continued its journey of victory by winning the 2nd ODI match held at Eden Garden, Kolkata. Again India shows good performance in both batting and bowling.

From the beginning of the ODI series, rain plays an dramatic role, in this match also for some time play was stopped due to rain. Considering this, Indian captain Virat Kohli after winning the toss decided to bat first. Having an aim to get a massive run on the scoreboard.

As like the previous match, the opening duo cant has a good start as the inform opener Rohit(7) got out in the 5th over by Coulter-Nile while trying to play a drive shot. After Rohit shown the way to pavilion, on the pitch Captain Kohli and Rahane balanced this condition very confidently. This duo has a stand of 102 runs, which have been some more but in 23rd over Rahane(55) got run out when trying to take a double. After this, no such great partnership is made because of continuous falling of wickets. The Star of the previous match Dhoni and Pandya fumbled in this match as both got out in a very low scoring. Only Kohli(92) stick to one side till the 38th over to set a high target. But finally, India manage to set up a target of 253, as in last 10 overs only 45 runs came in lose of 4 wickets.

In reply chasing a decent achievable target Australia fumbles from the beginning as India’s inform Swing king, Bhubaneswar picked up two wickets in his 4 over spell. Both the opener Warner(1) and CartWright(1) way back to the pavilion. But games seems to be shifting towards Australia as Smith who is playing his 100th international ODI started hammering the bowlers. On the runner’s end Travis Head also support Smith with some classy boundaries. He is dropped by Rohit in the 3rd over of Bhubaneswar and then taking the advantage of that lifeline to get some more runs. But he can’t able to utilize it for a long period as in 16th over of Chahal he got trapped and shown the way to pavilion.

Entering the ground and showing his power Maxwell hit 2 consecutive sixes to Kedar Jadhav. But again its MS DHONI  who brilliantly done his job behind the stumps by a blazing stumping in Chahal’s over. But in other side Smith(59) stands for a long with patience. But the marvelous innings comes to an end when He has a top-edge and gets caught by Jadeja in Pandya’s over.

Then the spinner Kuldeep Yadav done a great job by taking a hat-trick wicket and breaking the backbone of Australia team. But however, Stoinis(62) controlled the situations for some moments with some big strokes in end overs. But it all goes in vain as all wicket from other side goes down. In 43rd over Bhubaneswar took the only wicket of Richardson to give India a 50 run win over Australia.

Now from the 5 ODI match India leading with a 2-0 margin and having the next match on 24th September at Indore. And this won helped India to move on to No.1 spot in ODI ranking.
